MARK YOUR STAGE

A feature of the Stage Manager is that you can mark many stages and it will automatically know the current stage as soon as it is rezzed, correctly placing the set pieces and movers in the correct spots.   Even on the same sim!
NEW FEATURE IN 1.2:  OFF SWITCH
When a Stage Manager is shut off, it will stop listening to chat channels and perform no stage manager functions until it is turned back on by it's owner.  This will allow you to build multiple sets in the same area (such as platforms).  Left-click the Rezzer and choose OFF on the menu.  Do the same and choose ON when turning back on.  (Multiple Stage Mangers that are on must be at least 96 meters apart).

CAUTION:
Any stages on the same sim must given a unique name in your !! Stage Locations notecard.
Do not use a Stage Marker (included with Performance Director) when using the Stage Manager.

Get Stage Coordinates

You only need to mark a stage ONE TIME and unless that stage itself is moved or resized, your coordinates will be correct.  If you perform at multiple venues, you can keep a list of all of stage markings and the Stage Manager will know the current location as soon as you rez it near a stage.

THE FOLLOWING STEPS MUST BE DONE AT THE ACTUAL VENUE WHERE YOU WILL PERFORM.  YOU CAN DO THIS FOR EACH OF THE STAGES WHERE YOU PERFORM AS WELL AS YOUR BUILD LOCATIONS.

1.  Place the Rezzer somewhere near the stage, ideally backstage.
Stage Manager does not need to be placed in the same exact position when you are ready to rez your set for the show.

CAUTION:
DO NOT use the Stage Marker that comes with Performance Director.
Stage Manager now does that job for you!

2.  Place the Position Marker in the center of your stage floor.
The center can be the exact center of the floor prim, or for larger and deeper stages, you may want to have your set slightly forward.  It's up to you where you want the center of your set to be on this stage.

NOTE ABOUT STAGE TEMPLATES:  It is a good idea to check any stage template given to you to see how it sits on the stage BEFORE you begin to build.  It's often a better idea to create your own template.

Two ways to find the exact center:

TIP 1 - If you have edit rights of the stage floor:
Check this tip for the quick and easy way to
copy / paste exactly.  Be sure to click "Edit Linked Parts" to copy the position (center) of only the floor.  You will need to pull the Position Marker up so that it rests on the floor and not in it.   You will probably need to use an editable copy of the venue's template placed on the stage to be able to edit and see the position numbers.

Tip 2 - If you do not have edit rights of the stage floor:
1.  Place the Position Marker on the stage floor and try to position it as close to center as possible - left / right and front / back.  Don't worry about it being exact right now.

2.  Using the SL Edit Tools, stretch the Position Marker's sides the entire width of the stage and the front and back the entire depth of the stage.

3.  When all four edges of the Position Marker are aligned with the walls, left-click it to get the coordinates of that stage.

3.  Left-click the Position Marker and watch local chat.  You will see text similar to the following.  Highlight and copy the entire 2nd line of text beginning with the word "stage."

4.  Paste the text into the !! Stage Locations notecard inside the rezzer under the text " Put your stage coordinates here."  Give the stage a short but descriptive name, replacing the text "stage #...."  This will be what appears on the menu button.
SpotLite|Martian|<191.24600, 185.69090, 848.68150>|<-0.00000, -0.00000, 0.70711, 0.70711>
This example shows the name of the stage as "SpotLite",  the sim name "Martian", and the stage coordinates.  The menu button would show "SpotLite."

5.  Left-click the Rezzer and choose RESET.
You will see text in local chat saying the Rezzer is configured for the stage.

6.  Verify your Stage Location is set where you want it.

Clicking the "Rez Beacon" button from the Rezzer's main menu will rez an object at the current stage location.  The item will emit a particle radar pulse, and derez after 20 seconds.   This should make it easier to verify if the Stage Location is configured correctly when debugging.
Now it's time to build and pack your set!
