SEQUENCES AND RECORDING

(For those users of the Spot On Performance Director HUD, sequences are written with the same timeline format. )

Sequences and "Bare" Dances

You can edit the !! Sequences notecard in your HUD while wearing it.  Be sure to click the RELOAD button after saving and closing the notecard.
The easiest way to create a recording is to choose the dances you want to include in your sequence first.  If you have a large number of animations in your HUD and the chosen dances are pages apart, you may want to write them as "bare dances" on your !! Sequences notecard so that they are easier to click during recording.

NOTE:  Your HUD must be in the Unlocked state to edit the notecard inside while worn.
Bare Dances
A bare dance means that it isn't in a real sequence, it will just show up as one dance on one line in your Sequence tab.  Write the dance names in a list with no blank lines between them and they will appear as that dance name on the SEQ tab.
Sequences in a Timeline
We use a simple timeline method in which you specify the time you want a certain animation to begin starting from 0 seconds (when the Sequence name is clicked) to the end of the sequence.  All dance names MUST be written exactly as they are named.

TIMES MAY BE WRITTEN IN SECONDS OR MINUTES:
Example:  One minute and 20 seconds may be written as:
SECONDS:   80
MINUTES:   1:20

Sequence and Timeline Format:
Name of Sequence=
beginning time of 0 | exact_name_of_dance
time to start this dance | another_dance
time to start this dance | third_dance
My Sequence=
0|dance 1
15.4|dance 2
24.5|dance 3
35.3|dance 4
65.9|REPEAT
<--Name of the Sequence will appear on the HUD list
<--0 (zero) seconds (the beginning) - dance1 will play
<--15.4 seconds AFTER 0 (zero) dance2 will begin
<--24.5 seconds AFTER 0 (zero) dance 3 will begin
<--25.3 seconds AFTER 0 (zero) dance 4 will begin
<--65.9 seconds AFTER 0 (zero) the REPEAT command causes the sequence to start again.

Watch Out for Sneaky Characters!
If you prefer to create your notecard outside of SL to save on your hard drive, only use a "raw" text editor such as Microsoft's Notepad.  This ensures your document is clean, without background coding, and fonts that may not be interpreted correctly inside SL.  Never use Word!

This example shows three "bare dances" at the top and two sequences.

shows like this on the HUD.

Emotes / Commands

In the same way you can configure a hotkey button, you can include an emote line in your dance sequences without needing to press a hotkey button.  Add the "SAY" (s) or "SHOUT" (S) command at the time you specify in your sequence.

SAY or SHOUT:
- Using SAY (or the alias:  small s) sends the command within 20 meters of where you are.
- Using SHOUT  (or the alias:  capital S) sends the command region-wide.

The format is (with no spaces):

time | say or shout : channel : emote or command

Example:  At 10 seconds into the sequence, the HUD will say on channel 0 (local chat) the line shown.

10|s:0:Please remember to tip the DJ!

You also have the option of "emote spoofing" to make it appear that someone or something else said the command.  Add the name of the object/person at the end of the line to spoof.  The following example would show chat which appears to come from Big Bad Wolf.

10|s:0:The better to eat you with!:Big Bad Wolf

Editing Sequences

time|REPEAT
Causes the Sequence to start again and play all the way through continuously until manually stopped.

time|STOP
Causes all dancers to STOP.

If you do not use one of the above entries at the end of a sequence, the last dance in the sequence will continue to play until manually stopped.
Alternate Writing Method
You can also write your sequences out in a straight line however DO NOT mistake this for the old timeline method of writing the amount of time to do each dance after the dance name.  The above timeline still applies here.  The times listed are the times to start a dance with the dance name following it.  Using the above example, that sequence would appear as follows:

My Sequence=0|dance 1|15.4|dance 2|24.5|dance 3|35.3|dance 4|65.9|REPEAT

Recording

Picture
On the Sequences Tab, click the R button to start recording your animations.  Click through the dances you want at the time you want and then click the R button again to stop recording.

Click the DUMP button (the floppy disk icon with the down arrow) and look in local chat history (control-H).  You will see something similar to this:

0.000000|ImTooSexy1 - Abra
21.022390|ImTooSexy4 - Abra
28.023010|ImTooSexy5 - Abra

Copy this and paste it into your !! Sequences notecard.  Give the sequence a name and add a stop or repeat command at the appropriate amount of time after the last dance, save the card and close it.  You can edit these times to tweak your sequence and also remove some of the decimal places if you wish.

This Sequence could appear as such in your Sequences notecard as below and show on your HUD button as "Im Too Sexy."

Im Too Sexy=
0|ImTooSexy1 - Abra
21.02|ImTooSexy4 - Abra
28.02|ImTooSexy5 - Abra

Be sure to click the  RELOAD button and the new sequence will now appear on the list in you SEQ tab.
