TROUBLESHOOTING

STAGE MANAGER COMES WITH TWO BUILT-IN TOOLS TO HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL!  ALSO SEE THE FAQ PAGE FOR MORE TIPS.

Rez Beacon - Check you've marked your stage properly

Clicking the "Rez Beacon" button from the Rezzer's main menu will rez an object at the current stage location.  The item will emit a particle radar pulse, and derez after 20 seconds.   This should make it easier to verify if the Stage Location is configured correctly when debugging.

Debug Mode - Check that you've packed everything correctly

When enabled, the Rezzer will print in local chat verbose stats about each object that is rezzed.   This could be useful when trying to understand why something is not rezzing properly.   This generates a lot of chat, so it is not recommended for general use, but only when debugging problems.
EXAMPLE OF DEBUG STATS (Repeated for each object rezzed):
[14:27] Spot On Stage Manager 1.2 - Rezzer: Object Stats:
Name: Test Object
World Coordinates: <197.397100, 166.920000, 20.422670> (2.997013 Meters from stage location)
Land Impact: 1
Script Time: 0.000266
Script Count: 1/1
[14:27] Spot On Stage Manager 1.2 - Rezzer: Parcel Capacity: 2163/3281 (65%)

ENABLE DEBUG MODE
To enable debug mode, edit the "Stage Locations" notecard in the Rezzer and remove the "#" symbol before "#@debug."

Then reset the rezzer via the menu.   Debug mode will be enabled until you remove the debug line and reset the rezzer again or add the "#" symbol again and reset the rezzer.
LOOK FOR YOUR OBJECT
If Debug Mode reports that the missing object has been rezzed (in the "Name: Object Name line") and you don't see it, try these steps:
  • Debug mode tells you how far the item is from the stage in the "World Coordinates" line and the exact coordinates.
  • Use Area Search (Firestorm) to locate it on the sim.
  • Turn on Transparency (Control-Alt-T) to see if perhaps it is transparent
  • Go back and look in local chat to see if Stage Manager sent any warning messages to you while you were packing.
STEPS TO FIX / AVOID THIS HAPPENING
  • Go through the Pack Your Set tutorial again to make sure you know it.
  • Make sure each item has a unique name.  If you put the Object Script into something called "Object" the script will delete itself and give you a warning in local chat.
  • Make sure the stage is marked properly (see Rez Beacon above).
  • Make sure the object script is in the root prim of a linked set.
  • Make sure the item is copyable
  • If you are the owner of two Stage Managers rezzed on the sim, make sure the other one is OFF (use the menu to turn it off or on).
  • Make sure the item is named exactly on the set notecard as the item
  • Redo a Get Notecard for the object and replace the one in the Stage Manager.  No need to redo the whole set!  See Editing Sets
  • Reset the scripts in the Stage Manager whenever you edit the notecards.
  • Check to make sure that any other outside scripts in the object are not interfering with the rezzing of it.
  • If you click+drag to make a copy of an object, know that you are actually moving the original.....NOT the copy.
